Tempo by Kelley Maestas

What happens when the tempo of your life is destroyed by circumstances out of your control? Do you give up and give in, or do you fight to get your life back?

Karlie McKenna is facing a dilemma, does she continue to follow her safe but celibate lifestyle or does she race toward a new beginning? Summoned to the boss’ office she has no option but to head to Las Vegas for the opportunity of a lifetime.

Vincent Scarpetti has been running from his own demons. Attempting to right the wrongs in his past, Scarpetti searches for his freedom in Tempo, the newest and most anticipated resort in Las Vegas.

Set on a collision course, can they survive the impact?

Tensions rise as the lines between conference room and bedroom blur. Will Vincent offer Karlie what she wants? Can Karlie give Vincent what he needs?

Find out what happens to them both as they adjust to the new tempo that will rule their world.

Karlie is one of those girls everyone knows, they live their lives in solitude because the world has dealt them heavy blows early in life. As soon as i started reading this book i already felt proud of her and wanted to befriend her to remind her what life is about. Though Karlie has been dealt some blows she's has successes in her career as an interior designer extraordinary  which lands her an opportunity in Vegas (with jazz fingers).

Flight from Colorado to Vegas becomes the first step in Karlie coming into herself.

I really enjoyed Tempo, even more the Tempo (see what i did there) of the story. Karlie is a small girl emotionally in a woman's body. As the story flows you see her break out of her shell. Her life is work and nothing more, with no friends or family she's a create of habit. Vincent becomes smitten with her immediately but his own demons can ruin the growing relationship.

Tempo has great originality, character development and is one of the rare books these days that end. If Kelley wants to make this a series she can but the book has an introduction, body and conclusion. Don't let this review fool you, Tempo also has some HOT!!!! scenes that will make you need a cold shower or two! I enjoyed it and will def recommend Tempo.

Academy of Love by @KateDeveaux

Boarding School was never this much fun….

Love smolders and the sex is red hot when Cassianna Baxter leaves behind a glamorous teaching career in Italy to return to her old Alma Mater, Lewiston Academy for Girls as the Deputy Head Mistress. No sooner does she arrive at the Academy than she walks smack into sexy Lawrence Taylor, her first love and ex-lover. He’s been looking for her ever since he was forced to leave her and now that she is back at the Academy he knows he has to win her back. And not just in his bed.

Red Sage Publishing Official Release Date: August 1 2013
Amazon: B&N

Note to my readers:

There is nothing quite as exciting as a first love and nothing quite as painful as it’s ending. It’s a theme I think many readers can relate to in the heroine and the hero of this story, Cassianna and Lawrence. And the proper girl’s boarding school is something I can relate to from first hand experience. And I can assure you there is nothing prim and proper about what goes on between Lawrence and Cassianna at the Academy!

What happens when ex lovers meet years later -- will the attraction burn as hot? Or will it be scorching?

Academy of Love by Kate Deveaux brings you the story of Cassianna and Lawrence. I enjoyed Cassie and Lawrence story. Meeting at the boarding school that Cassie attended and Lawrence worked at, a relationship is build, but misunderstandings and some strategically placed lies breaks that foundation. Years later faith brings them back to the same place they originally met and there is where you start.

"“What are you doing here at the Academy?”
Lawrence demanded from the doorway, his gaze
intense and the tension in him showing through
his taut neck muscles.
“Me! What am I doing here?” she stammered. “I
think I should be asking you the same thing.”
“I work here,” Lawrence flashed back, his eyes
flecked with gold and full of fire.
“I work here too!”
The lines in his brow furrowed. “Since when?”
His voice rising, as he stood up even taller, filling
the doorway with his strength.
“Since four hours ago when I arrived at this
school. And don’t you yell at me!” Cassianna
gulped for air, as she sputtered angrily, “I should
be yelling at you, you’re the one that ran off and left me.”
“I’m the one that ran off?” He clenched the muscles in his neck while sparks
flashed in his eyes.
“I waited for you and you never came back.” As Cassianna spoke the angry
words, she noticed his posture softened slightly, his shoulders easing, but his
muscular chest contracted with each heavy breath, betraying his mood.
He moved towards her in one quick stride.
He was inches from her. Cassianna could feel the heat between them."

Well written story, Deveaux was able to touch on every item that was question along the way. Why they ended and the time between is addressed throughout the story in a way thats believable and not thrown together. Every word you read is important to the story and has its own place within this journey. The chemistry between Cassie and Lawrence jumps out of the page for me, its a tangible thing. I like Cassie's character, you can see bits of the girl she was and the women she's grown into. If only we all could have a first love so intense and satisfying. Once finished all  i want is more on Lawrence and Cassie! What the rest of their relationship is like, how the rest of the year at the boarding school works out, if Monica continues being bitter? Wanting to know such small details only confirms how entranced the novel becomes. I enjoyed it and its one i will re-read over and over again.

Autumn Fire by @Cameron_D_James

Dustin likes the closet. It’s warm, comfy, and dark. Who needs to be out when you can get all the anonymous sex you want via the internet? And, besides, coming out is messy and gets you nowhere--certainly not a relationship. Real gay love is fiction.
When Dustin meets CollegeJock22 for a quick blow-and-go in the university library men’s room, everything he thought he knew crumbles. He can’t get that man out of his head and will do almost anything to have him. The only problem? CollegeJock22 is even more in the closet than Dustin.
He’s in so deep he can’t even see the crack of light under the door.

Excerpt –

Hot blowjobs! Call Dave!

Dustin glanced over the phone number scrawled in faded ink, marring the grey paint. A half a dozen more “offers” decorated the wall—hookups made inherently sleazy when delivered in bathroom graffiti.

Not that he should judge, since he occupied the stall in the men’s room at the back of the library for an anonymous blowjob with some guy he met on the internet.

Dustin barely knew anything more about CollegeJock22 than he did about “Dave,” but it was still different…somehow. He’d at least seen CollegeJock22’s picture, if only a grainy crotch shot.

His thoughts crashed to a halt when the bathroom door next to him opened. Blood immediately pounded in his ears, so loud he struggled to hear the hesitant footsteps make their way to the urinal. Cold sweat spread across his forehead. He’d done his share of hookups, but never in a public place before. The danger of being caught both terrified and excited him.

Dustin stared at the sneakered foot, visible just below the stall wall, as the other man stopped at the urinal on the other side of the metal divider. He waited for the signal. Until he heard it, he didn’t know who had come in, CollegeJock22 or some random dude needing to take a piss.

He heard a zipper open, but not the telltale sound of urination. The foot shifted. The pant leg lifted, briefly flashing a white sock. The signal. Dustin flashed his own sock.

Nothing happened. Embarrassment swelled as he realized the awkward coincidence. This was not CollegeJock22.

Then the other man’s feet moved. Another wave of cold sweat peppered his skin. He’d been right. CollegeJock22. Now he just prayed the man wasn’t fat and ugly, his profile one big lie. Dustin’s breath grew shallow and his heart thudded as the man stood on the other side of the stall door.

Dustin left it unlocked, as planned.

It squeaked softly as CollegeJock22 nudged it open.

All doubts vanished. Quite simply, CollegeJock22 would be the hottest guy Dustin ever hooked up with, the rare man who actually lived up to his profile. He easily stood five foot eleven with tight golden curls peeking out from below his ball cap. His muscled chest pulled his shirt taut beneath his open jacket and his cock…a gorgeous piece of meat dangled from his open fly. The thick and semi-hard dick sprouted from a dusting of fine hair, probably at least seven inches when erect.
Dustin has been living life in the closest for almost seven years. Starting college he tried for a fresh start but one of random hook ups and extreme secrecy. One of those hook ups changed his mind set. I enjoyed Autumn Fire, its a story i don't get to see a lot of. A college male in the closet who isn't ready to come out or for a relationship and finds himself on the cusp of both. The story of forbidden love, peer pressure and the fear of not conforming comes across in this novel. Though sex is discusses, preformed and implied its not the dominant issue throughout the book. The story of Dustin is the focus and i like that. Being female i will never be in Dustins particular situation. Autumn Fire gave me the chance to not only be in Dustins mind but to feel the fear, confusion and frustration that comes with being a in the closest male in college.

Great flow and character development, constant stay in character and descriptive enough without out over stating issues. Humor, tears, heartbreak and love all in one.

Sliding Into Black by T.L. Kitae

newheaders3
During the cultural revolution of the 1960's and '70's, the war in Vietnam continued, daily casualties calmly reported on the evening news. Shaw, a brilliant ex-Navy Seal, has managed to come home alive after two tours in Vietnam and is now involved in black ops with Naval Intelligence, stationed in the exotic Hawaiian Islands. The revolution had evolved into social and anti-war protests, rock 'n roll, drugs, feminism, burn-your-bras, and casual sex, arriving in Hawaii as tradewinds of change. An unorthodox romance springs up between Shaw and Marie, his boss's daughter. From the moment they meet, sparks fly and the erotic heat between them runs as hot as the lava streaming from Hawaii's volcano, Kilauea. Thus, the first installment of the Sliding into Black trilogy begins. addtogoodreads2

“I go back to the wind blowing my long, blonde hair around me, the delicious feeling of speed, top down on our GTO. Young, with no sense of mortality - after all, we have everything that life has to offer in front of us. Spring break and we’re heading to my best friend, Jen’s family condo at Myrtle Beach. Yes, yes, yes – an hour away from a needed break from the university, lectures and oh, god, the research papers! Chris and I have been going out together for over a year, exclusively for a few months. We enjoy the same things, are study buddies, come from the same small town – basically we’re best friends with benefits. We agree, it’s not love, but damn, the sex is fantastic! There doesn’t seem to be any end to the white-hot sexual attraction we have. We can’t keep our hands and lips off each other. We’re like moths to a flame.

What are your five favorite books, and why?

Tough question! I am an avid, maybe even rabid book reader! So here goes, not in any particular order, and not any favorite over the other. 1) The Bone Bed, Patricia Cornwell. I love her characters, how they seem to stand in front of you, and the intricate details that she weaves into every book. 2) Bonnie, Iris Johansen. Ms. Johansen's work fascinates me and Eve is an irrestible character. 3) Fantasy in Death by J.D. Robb. Love, love, love everything that Norah Roberts aka J.D. Robb writes. All of her characters are ultra-cool and the plots well defined. 4) Feastday of Fools, James Lee Burke. Mr. Burke has a unique writing style that is amazing in it's descriptiveness and detail. Every word leaps off the page and a picture starts forming immediately of each character, location, and each action. 5) A Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin (all 4 books). Epic story telling, like watching a movie in your head. These are just newer books, there are many, many other authors and classics that beguile me.

How do you approach cover design?

This is a great question because personally, the cover of a book will attract me first as I am a visual person and learner. First the cover needs to pull me in and second, I like interesting pictures or drawings and hope that they give me a hint of what's inside. For Sliding into Black, it was imperative to show a Hawaiian beach, then hopefully a Shaw and Maria. It came together well!

What do you read for pleasure?

Fantasies, Science Fiction, Mysteries and Erotic Romances.

What is your e-reading device of choice?

Right now, a Kindle Fire. Love it!

Describe your desk

My desk is a mess. But don't touch it! Each stack means something and only I know what it is!

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?

I was a semi-military brat, lived all over the U.S. and Hawaii. So far, there is nowhere that has beat Hawaii for overall climate, beaches, things to do and see, and wonderful warm people! Hawaii has influenced my life more than anyplace I lived, except for twenty years on a horse and cattle farm. I loved writing the first book of the Sliding into Black trilogy with Hawaii as the setting - so romantic!

When did you first start writing?

I started writing as a child, mostly diaries and journals. As I progressed through school, several teachers told me that I should consider writing as a profession. But life happens. Now I have the chance to write books and am loving every minute of it.

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?

Sharing thoughts, ideas and introducing people to new places or bringing back memories for them. Of course, there is always a release. Writing can be cathartic.

What do your fans mean to you?

My fans are why I write. They let you know what they like and what they don't pretty quick and I love the feedback - take every bit to heart and apply to the next book. You can't grow without praise and constructive criticism. I appreciate every fan!

What are you working on next?

Book 2 of the Sliding into Black trilogy. What's going on with Shaw? What will Marie do? So much fun!

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?

My family, my cat and my horses! Three couples, all friends from college on a road trip for that much needed spring break. Somehow Chris and I have gotten ahead of the rest of the kids, so we take advantage of the moment. I slide my tongue into Chris’s ear, down his neck, under his long blonde hair and down to his nipple. Lightly I bite his nipple and circle it with my tongue, lovingly tasting the salt from his sweat.” Link to Smashwords Interview - https://www.smashwords.com/interview/tlkitae

One Ride by @chelseacamaron

One Ride
Book One of the Hellions Ride Series
By Chelsea Camaron

Blurb:
Delilah “Doll” Reklinger never imagined her life with anyone that wasn’t a Hellion.  She never imagined there would be a Hellion that could prove himself worthy enough to her father, Roundman, Hellions Club President.  Content in living in the bubble of safety the motorcycle club family has always provided, Doll never thought that danger surrounded her.
Roundman has kept the Hellions contained for the last thirty years by controlling the chaos surrounding their lifestyle.  When the dangerous side to their business comes knocking on his door, he realizes his precious Doll isn’t safe.  The Hellions code may be that women and children are off limits in any altercation or dispute, but that doesn’t mean their enemies follow that same moral compass.
His only child, now in danger from the association to him and his club, Roundman makes a decision.  He sends her away with a charter club member that he trusts, in hopes that the trouble won’t follow.
One ride across the country.  One simple ride.  Talon “Tripp” Crews has been ordered to take Doll on one ride away and to keep her safe.  She’s off limits.  His head knows this, but his body can’t deny the attraction.  She’s feisty, fierce, and fearless.
Constantly in close confines together, can they deny the chemistry?  Will they give into the desire?  Can one ride turn lust into love?

Amazon : Barnes and Noble : GoodReads

One Ride by Chelsea Camaron revolves around Doll and Tripp, both growing into their own in a situation neither have a choice about. I love biker clubs, alpha man and women that may seem naive but have a strong core. Doll is the first child of the biker club, being around the club her whole life and raised in the biker world she's not as naive as her father thinks, but she still doesn't understand the trouble coming for her.
As we learn about Doll and Tripp on their ride to safety, you also see them slowly deal with the chemistry between them. Knowing the pros and cons of their relationship, you can do nothing but stay along for the ride.
I really enjoyed this book, and am excited for book two in the series. The story is engaging, has you from the first word to last work. Doll is real, as a person whose never been on a bike you would think i couldn't relate to Doll but i do. I am a daughter and a friend, plus Chelsea wrote in such a way you can't help but get involved emotionally. One Ride involves so many different characters that each have their own story and nicknames, sometimes that can get confusing but i was able to follow along in One Ride.

Some rants would be with all the information your given, you can help but feel like key parts weren't explained. I hope Tank, Sass and Nick's story develops in book two because I WANNNNNAA KNOWW what happens :-) . Raves, i love how Chelsea has a realistic time able! Doll and Tripp didn't know each other a week and fall in love, their stories are given time to get to know one another, its real. Im curious on whats going to happen with Lux and Rex, that looks like a whole situation on it on.
One Ride is a great start to what seems to be a kick a$$ series, you have bikers, family, friends, some hotttt scenes, smart women, alpha males and a whole lotta riding!

I give One Ride by Chelsea Camaron

Chelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming.
Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice.
Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Love and Repair’ series and the ‘Hellions Ride’ motorcycle club series. Her love for reading has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in the works.
When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in. She hates being serious and is still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.
