Although you don’t have to read every book in the series, I strongly recommend that the first book, Fighting Temptation, should be read prior to Kayla and Cooper’s story in order to understand many aspects of this book.

The moment his control snapped.

We stare at each other for a long moment, the air thick with tension. His hands still grip my arms tightly when something passes between us, something powerful. 

“You know what? Fuck it!” Then suddenly it happens, the one thing I have been wanting from him, for three long years. He kisses me, his mouth crashing to mine, hard, hot and demanding. 

Oh god. My knees go weak and a whimper escapes me at the first sweep of his tongue. His taste—his incredible, masculine taste—floods my senses and sets my body on fire. I waste no time giving just as good as I get. My fingers weave into his hair with a grip that draws a growl from him and I match him stroke for every desperate stroke, taking what I have ached for, what I have dreamed about for so long.

Catching me off guard, Cooper picks me up by my ass and walks us a few steps. I hear a bunch of shit crash to the floor before my back suddenly meets the cold, hard surface of his kitchen table. We never break the kiss, our mouths devouring one another, our tongues dueling a beautiful battle of frustration and pure, hot lust. My lungs crave oxygen but I can’t stop, I don’t want to, I need more. I rip open his uniform shirt and the tiny buttons fly all over the place. My hands slip beneath his undershirt and roam over the smooth, hard plains of his abs.

With a groan he rips his mouth from mine, and starts trailing his lips down my throat. “You drive me fucking crazy!” he growls. “The way you torment my dick, prancing around this tight, little body of yours. Testing every measure of my control!”

  “Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!” Nekitys yelled, reaching over to push Yra’s and Kinnard’s rifles down. “It can’t get to us in here. Your blasts will ricochet off the security field and kill us all!” The ’rat stood motionless, inches away on the other side of the field, staring down at all of us. “Huuummmaaaaaans,” it said, “I come alone. Nooooo weapon. I escape settlement to help you.” Needless to say, that wasn’t what we expected to hear. “Everybody get ready,” Kinnard said. “Nekitys, prepare to drop the field. We’re going to put as many holes as we can through this thing.” The Atlantean kids all put our uninvited visitor squarely in the cross-hairs. “Waaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiit,” it said, stepping back with its paw in front of it. “Desrata Kingdom has your female. They kiiiiillllllllll if she not escape soon. I help you get her back. If I die, you fail, she die.” “No!” Naetth yelled. “You’re a stinkin’ ’rat! You’re a liar! You’re a killer! You would never help us!” The ’rat backed up several more steps and eased itself down to the ground.          Like my cousins, for the last twenty-five years I've been a Type 2 diet-controlled diabetic.

         Diabetes is a life-changing disease.  It's estimated that 25.8 million children and adults in the United States are diabetic.  That's 8.3% of the population.  My guess is that we all know someone who is diabetic.

I took fistfuls of his black, long-sleeved, cotton shirt, pulling him as close as I could get him.  I wrapped my legs around his waist and began to kiss as passionately and roughly as I ever had.  I was hungry to taste him again, to feel him again, to simply love him again.
