Sweet Temptation should be read prior to this novella. Sweet Love fast forwards the couple of Sweet Temptation "Sexy Sawyer" and "Cupcake Grace" and their twin children Parker and "Shortcake" Hope. I would highly recommend reading the Men of Honor series prior to Sweet Love as you get the full effect of each character.

Sweet Love is a refreshing insight into the world of Sexy Sawyer and his Cupcake. Throughout the book you are engulfed into the relationship between parents and children and get to visit some favorites along the way.

An emotional journey you take with a parent who has a choice they never thought they will make. I appreciated Sweet Love for the glimpse it allows me to have with a family i feel like i am apart of. You laugh, you cry, you get angry, sad, excited and frustrated but at the end of the day Sweet Love will fill you with just that, sweet love.

I enjoyed the journey i got to experience with Sawyer and Grace. Their love and foundation is so strong they are able to find ways to hope each other up with outside things attempt to rip them a part. Theres a line Sawyer says that reads "The easiest thing ive ever done in my life is love you Grace" and you know he means that with ever fiber in his body. Sawyer's able to still be his ego driven self but his maturity as a husband and father is inspiring. Sweet Love is written in a realistic way of the dynamics of an amazing marriage deal with a tribulation. Grace is still the sweet thoughtful and caring person we've seen before but their is a confidence to her i feel the love of Sawyer and joy of motherhood gives. The strength Grace has gives a glimpse of what the support of her new family gives her. The novella ended and i wanted more. I wanted more of a look into the day to day of the Evens family because i feel like a part of their world. Keep the tissues near by and prepare of an emotional event that enforces the power of faith, strength of family and the confidence of Sweet Love.

Faith’s POV

With my vision blurry from tears, I run toward the one place I’ve loved going to since coming here. The bright morning sun beats down on me, but my body is plagued with too many emotions to feel any of its warmth. They rush through my veins and crawl up my throat, trying to suffocate me, as memories from two years ago play through my head. Good ones, bad ones, they all hit me at once...

The unsuspecting smile of a beautiful but dark man, who captured my attention. The evenings of singing to him in the sunset. His hands and mouth exploring my body as I explored his. A man whose eyes held me captive, and made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, as he moved inside of me, not only claiming my body but also claiming my heart. The same man who’s shown me the only loving touch I would know for the next two years, and maybe the rest of my life.

Then come the ugly memories. The ones of rough, unwanted hands that delivered not only pain to my body, but shame to my soul. Ones that tore at my clothes, and took what was not offered to them. The sound of a little boy’s screams, as he begged them to stop, while he was forced to watch me be violated in the worst way.

This is what bitches are for, boy. Fucking, not singing. We will make a man out of you yet.

A sob of agony rips from my throat and I push myself harder and faster. The burn of my legs and lungs still not enough to quiet the evil running through my head.

“Do you still believe in your God, female?” he asks, holding my cross necklace over my beaten and naked body. When I don’t answer him, he sends another blow to my already battered face. “ANSWER ME!”

“Yes,” I choke out through the blood that pools in my mouth. The sounds of a little boy’s broken sobs fill the air, and rip through my already tortured heart.

“You are a stupid, stupid woman. I will teach you who the real God is. And before you leave this earth you will call me Allah.”

This disgusting person may have stolen my body and tortured my soul, but he would not take my faith. Not ever. I stare defiantly into his malevolent dark eyes, my fear long forgotten. “Over my dead body.”

He responds with a malicious smile, “So be it, bitch.”

Spotting the crystal blue waves in the near distance, I push myself harder as I race toward the beautiful, deserted beach. As soon as my feet hit the sand I slow only enough to toe off my running shoes and ankle socks before rushing into the ice-cold ocean. Once I’m far enough out, I dive in headfirst and let the fresh water steal my breath and cleanse my soul.

My lungs begin to burn so much it’s almost unbearable, but it does the trick. The dirty and ugly memories begin to wash away, but instead of being replaced with beautiful ones of the man who once held my heart, it holds the one of a man who was severely tortured and beaten... all because of me. The same man who saved my life then refused to ever see me again. And the worst part is, I still don’t know if it’s because he blames me, or because he can’t bear to look at me knowing what they did to me.

Sweet Temptation - Excerpt

I smile now, thinking about him and Cade at a younger age, “How long have you been friends with Cade?”

His easy smile returns, “Since the first day of second grade. We were the most unlikely duo. I was a kid from a good family who had money, and well... let’s just say Cade was the opposite. One day, after school, three older kids were picking on him at the playground, so I walked up and beat the shit out of all three of them. I saved his life. After that he followed me around everywhere I went. No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of him, so I thought: ah what the hell, I’ll be his friend.”

I stare at him a second before I burst out laughing, “You’re lying!”

He looks at me, affronted, “I am not! You should have seen me baby, I kicked major ass.”

I shake my head and continue to laugh, knowing he’s lying. “Ok, ok, it was actually the other way around, but don’t judge Cupcake I was small for my age, believe it or not. I didn't get all this until closer to junior high.”

I have a hard time picturing Sawyer small for his age, considerin’ what a giant he is now. “So you followed Cade around till he became your friend?”

“Wouldn't you?” he asks looking at me like I’m crazy, “the guy kicked the shit out of all three of those fuckers for trying to steal my new Pumas. I decided right there that this guy was going to be my friend, and I was gonna bring him everywhere I went, which I did. At first he tried acting like he didn’t want to be my friend, but of course it didn’t take long before he realized I wasn’t going anywhere. In the end he decided to give in, and we have been best friends ever since.”

With a big smile I wrap my arms around his neck, “That’s a great friendship story. I’m glad y’all met, and he was able to save your Pumas for you.”

Sawyer grins, “Me too baby. My mom had just bought those for me, she would have been pissed.”

I giggle again, but it fades as I tread into darker territory, “Can I ask you somethin’?”

“Anything Cupcake.”

“How did Cade’s sister die?” His expression turns to stone, his eyes cold and hard. I immediately regret asking. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.”

He shakes his head, as if pulling himself out of some sort of turmoil, “No it’s fine. It’s just... I have never told another soul this story, but I will tell you. You can’t ever bring it up to Cade though, ok? Because it’s something that will send him right over the fucking edge; it’s why he never talks about it.”

My stomach turns to lead and I swallow nervously, knowing what Sawyer is about to tell me is probably going to be the most awful thing I will ever hear in my life.
